Author's notes: This story is a work of fiction. The archive's depictions do not reflect the personalities or opinions of their creators.
I don't know where Nyah, Asianfanfics and Adult-Fanfiction stand on texts written by generative IAs so I'm improvising.
The story's original version had the archives’ quintet of using OTW code plus Internet Archive. These were Ao3, Squidgeworld, superlove, Ad Astra and Comic Fanfiction Authors Archive. But I decided to put less popular (in a way) archives forwards. I still kept Ao3 and Squidge.
At the center of the Internet, in a highly secure bunker, the archives sit around a table. They all have a humanoid shape. Imagine a simple character with a solid color body and accessories. That's what they look like.
“It's a catastrophe!” Squidgeworld suddenly exclaims.
“Cata-meow?” Nyah replies, wanting to lighten the mood.
“Ha ha ha! Good pun.” Ao3 replies.
“This is serious stuff, friends!” Says Asianfanfics followed by Adult-Fanfiction. “Generative Artificial Intelligences are invading the Internet. They're everywhere.”
“So?” Internet Archive asks. “I'm not necessarily pro-IAs but what can we do?”
“We can at least prohibit work done by IAs on our archives.” Says Nyah.
Asianfanfics, Squidgeworld and Adult-FanFiction agree. The Internet Archive does not give an answer, wishing to remain neutral.
“Not me anyway.” Says Ao3. “How can anyone know if a work is made by AI or not? In any case, even if I banned these works, users would cheat and put some online anyway.”
“You can't be serious!” Squidgeworld retorts.
“I am and let's not waste our time arguing about it. We've got work to do.”
Ao3 leaves the room with the table. Nyah and Internet Archive do the same. Asianfanfics, Squidgeworld and Adult-FanFiction sigh at the same time. They leave the room in turn. Time to work outside the bunker.
